My name is Maisarah Ahmad Kamil, and I’m an academic and researcher at the Academy of Language Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you enjoy exploring my website.
A little background about myself. I was born in Malaysia, and was mostly raised here. I spent two years of my childhood in Wyoming, USA, and all four years of my high school in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Language Studies (Hons.) English for Professional Communication, a Master’s degree in Family Counselling, and—hopefully, in just a few months—a PhD in Applied Language Studies. My PhD research focuses on English Professional Communication Competence for Graduate Employability.
I am a Tunku Scholar, having been awarded the Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship for my undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies. In 2013, I was honored to receive UiTM’s Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal and the prestigious Pingat Tunku (Tunku Award). My deep gratitude to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation (YTAR), whose support has fueled my passion for community and national development—especially in upskilling programs for various communities. I began my career at PETRONAS Leadership Centre, the training arm of PETRONAS, before resigning to pursue my master’s full-time. Over the years, I’ve gained diverse experience in retail, copywriting, proofreading and editing, and sales—pitching to C-suite leaders across Southeast Asia. I also spent time teaching in a private school (both primary and secondary) before joining UiTM as an academic.
Additionally, I am a Licensed Coach and Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). My license is awarded by NaviGO NLP Centre, and my certificate is from the Society of NLP, signed by Richard Bandler.
Writing has always been a passion of mine—whether it’s short stories, novels, articles, case studies, or beyond. You’ll likely find snippets of my work throughout this website, as well as tips to improve your own skills.
I am always eager to collaborate, particularly in research and community development. I also offer professional services, including copywriting, ghostwriting, and editorial work.
